Tell us about yourself and your community

Tammy Bargman is ED at Prairie View Assisted Living. I grew up in Winnebago and graduated from Winnebago High School. My family and I moved back to Winnebago 13 years ago.  I have been happily married to my husband Tom for 23 years. We have 1 daughter and 2 sons that we are very proud of and love spending time with.

I have been at Prairie View for 10 years. I was originally hired as a caregiver and after 3 weeks I was promoted to kitchen manager/assistant manager of Prairie View.

Prior to this experience, my family owed The Brass Bull restaurant for 9 years and I also worked at Amerock for 10 years. I then ran the cafeteria at Com Ed for several years.

How did you find this career path?

When my family and I moved back to Winnebago and my neighbor at the time had told me that PV had just opened and was looking for employees

Why is this community a good fit?

I love our small town/community of Winnebago. I think that PV is the perfect fit for our Winnebago community. We have/had been able to give many of our Winnebago residents themselves or family members of our Winnebago community a nice, safe home.

What 3 things do you love most about your community?

  1. I Love that PV has a very homey atmosphere.
  2. I also love and feel very blessed to have gotten to know and formed friendships with so many of our wonderful residents, family members and coworkers.
  3. I also am very appreciative of our owner Michael and our corporate office, Parkside Management for all of the support that we have from them. They are always there when we need them.

What one thing do you wish for people to keep in mind when they are touring communities?

Always try to look for a place that best fits your loved one’s personality and needs.

What do they prefer?

County, City, a quiet atmosphere, a busier atmosphere, a smaller community with a family like atmosphere or a lager community with a larger verity of staffing. Talk to other residents during your tour and check their reviews.

Based on your experience, what is one thing residents and families want to achieve by moving into your community?

Making sure that the resident has someone around 24/7 for any needs that may arise, knowing that they are getting their daily meals, care needs, medications on time. Companionship and a sense of feeling safe. Knowing that their loved one’s are surrounded by a staff that genuinely cares about them

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy spending time my family and friends, camping, entertaining and cooking
